Wow Alain, that's a lot of hair on a schmiedickeanus! I sort of like it, but I always liked the spines on schmiedickeanus and you almost can't see the spines on this plant. The hair makes the flowers show up nicely however. At one time I grew a lot of Turbinicarpus. I liked ssp. klinkerianus best, although valdezianus is nice too. Your plant is just really different, a real show plant.
I think it must be an old plant. It came from Bill Weightman's collection.The form should have a single up curving central spine but many spines have been lost with age. Difficult to see the new spines in the wool.
